For an action camera return, start with the seller, purchase date and order terms. Buying a GoPro or DJI camera at Best Buy does not make the manufacturer's direct-store return policy apply. Check the current policy before buying or starting a return.

Best Buy's current return framework

Checked October 8, 2026: Best Buy lists 15 days for most Standard purchases and 60 days for My Best Buy Plus/Total members, with exclusions. Marketplace purchases do not receive those extended member windows. The period begins when the product is received. Best Buy return policy.

The policy lists action cameras among products subject to a 15% restocking fee, with exceptions including unopened items and specified states or where prohibited by law. Items must meet its condition requirements. Best Buy restocking and condition terms.

Compare membership, opened packaging, receipts and missing contents. These details matter together; neither a member badge nor an unopened box replaces the full policy applicable to an order.

GoPro direct purchases

GoPro's money-back guarantee applies to orders placed on gopro.com. It describes a return within 30 days of receiving the order, excludes associated shipping fees from refund and excludes certain damage. GoPro money-back guarantee.

This is a separate sales channel. The guarantee should not be presented as the policy for a GoPro camera bought from another retailer.

DJI direct purchases

The current DJI support article applies to DJI Online Store purchases and lists a 30-day request period for handheld imaging devices and other covered products, subject to its conditions. Those conditions distinguish an unused/unactivated product in resalable condition from one with a manufacturing defect. Other sellers' terms apply to purchases through other channels. Read the actual order terms and return instructions.

Prepare a return

Consider keeping proof of purchase, packaging and accessories. Collect the order details and describe the reason for returning the camera accurately. Check where the request must be initiated and any shipping instructions before sending it.

For Best Buy, review the current store-return or shipping process and any Marketplace seller requirements. For a direct manufacturer purchase, use that seller's process. Do not assume a camera bought online can be returned at an unrelated store.

Questions to check

  • Opened camera: Check condition and any restocking fee; opened does not by itself guarantee or prevent acceptance.
  • Missing accessories: Check the seller's completeness requirements before starting the return.
  • Refurbished or open-box item: Read the order's applicable window and exclusions rather than assuming a special rule.
  • Holiday purchase: Use the published policy for that purchase period. This guide does not forecast an extension.
  • Defective camera: State the fault and check the seller's return or warranty route; a warranty claim and a change-of-mind return are different processes.

Buying decision

Compare the complete purchase terms: seller, current price, return window, condition requirements and possible costs. A longer nominal window alone does not make one purchase channel better for every buyer.
