A gimbal may be useful when it supports your exact action camera and the movements you want to record. Check the mounting and balancing arrangement before comparing price; physical stabilization and camera-control compatibility are separate questions.
An existing documented option
FeiyuTech G6 Max is an option in this comparison. The manufacturer provides a download and compatibility section including camera lists. Check the exact camera and any adapter; do not infer universal control or fit from support for a broad camera category.
Weight, size and controls
Compare supported load and dimensions, camera clearance, balancing instructions and the available control connection. A camera may be physically supportable without every function controllable through the gimbal. Cases or added accessories can change fit and balance.
Stabilization and use
Choose the movement and shot you need. A gimbal does not guarantee that every frame will be smooth or eliminate subject motion. Practice setup, balance and controls while stationary, then check a short recording in an appropriate controlled setting.
Environmental and packing limits
Follow the actual gimbal's instructions for charging, water exposure and storage. A waterproof action camera does not make the gimbal waterproof. Include the gimbal, adapters and batteries in packed size and total cost.
Buying decision
Compare verified camera support, controls, setup effort and complete price with the camera's own stabilization or a simpler support. A DJI Osmo Action 4 camera is not itself a mechanical three-axis gimbal.
